They could have upgraded the existing network of rail in the north, instead it's all down the pan! Worst thing is, it is the government actual people (engineers etc) working on hs2 were sincerely putting their all into it

Its bullshit to state that because ONE RAIL LINE isnt linking cities, that it will rip out the heart of the economic plan. Drama queen language. its only 1 rail route, we already have established rail links to the south. It only saves half an hour travel time.

Here in Somerset we'd be happy with the A303 being upgraded past Stonehenge to a dual carriageway.
21st century and the main trunk road from London to the SW has still got stretches of single carriageway in places 😵‍💫

HS2 should never have been started, all that money, disruption and destruction of land….. for what. To save 20 mins on a journey from London to Manchester. Paid for by the taxpayer who has to pay to use it, if it’s ever completed. It’s sickening and beggars belief !!

I'd rather use the money to fund an investigation into the fraud and corruption and jail lots of those involved. That might send out a message for future projects.

How does he figure on that then? The courts are stitched up by hs2 and london!!! …. but hey of he wants to profit the south like a muppet…insted of finding solutions that work … and waste the north peoples tax money to sue the government I'm sue all of the people will thank him very much….when yet again a clown lost yet a few more million or billion wasting yet more bloody time! Come on burnem wake up!

Who’s paying for the legal action

Can someone please ask him how much a ticket will be

  19. @Splodge4514

    December 30, 2023 at 3:19 pm

Wow what communist tool he is. So, he’s going to use taxpayers money to sue the government, who will use taxpayers money to defend their decision! Only communists could come up with such a brilliant idea. I would support him and his devoted brain dead followers if they were going to use their own money but this is labour all over. Screw the taxpayers to try and make themselves look good. All in the name of trying to get a few votes. What an absolute plank! This is why everyone has to vote Labour out wherever they stand for election. Makes my blood boil every time he opens his dimwitted mouth.

I'm not a Labour supporter but agree with Andy Burnham on this. Its been a gravy train all the way and now the Govt must deliver.

    December 30, 2023 at 3:19 pm

Manchester is the true heart of this country they Londoners dont give a fuck about us they isn't even English anymore, they're just interested in selling their city and trying to make us do the same

  22. @ancietman

    December 30, 2023 at 3:19 pm

It started off costing £30 billion it will probably be £130+ billion before its finished. I live in Lincolnshire I would just be happy with a reliable train service. Or the fact my nearest station is 15 miles away. That would be a better use of funds rather than the HS2 vanity project.

Watch as Will Kensington expresses concern about the state of the UK, arguing that Downing Street is no longer a place of power but has instead become Britain’s most expensive Airbnb.

This comes as Andy Burnham is set to become the UK’s seventh Prime Minister in a decade, with seemingly no one challenging the “King of the North” for the country’s top job.
