The Fashion Rules for Women Over 30 You Can Officially IGNORE

Published

on

Wondering how to dress in your 40s or 50s without following a bunch of outdated rules? In this episode of Anything But Mid, we continue our style series with honest advice on style over 40, style over 50, and how to look stylish at any age. We get into why you don’t have to settle into a “sophisticated” look just because you’ve hit midlife, how to find your personal style as your body and life change, and how to stop dressing for what other people might think.

This episode is for any woman searching for fashion for women over 40, fashion for women over 50, or even fashion for women over 30 that still feels like her. We talk about how to dress your age (or why you shouldn’t try), what “age-appropriate clothing” really means, and how to dress confidently as a woman at any stage. We share our own fashion regrets, why confidence is the best thing you can wear, how to add personality to basic outfits, and what to do when you can’t figure out what goes with that great skirt hanging in your closet.

We also dig into building a wardrobe you love: when to invest in a quality piece, the “hell yes or hell no” test for big purchases, why one expensive coat or pair of boots can cost less than you think over ten years, and how to mix investment pieces with budget finds. Whether you’re looking for how to dress in your 30s, how to dress in your 40s, how to dress in your 50s, or midlife style inspiration, this conversation is a reminder that you are allowed to evolve, play, and have fun. Think of it as life tips for women over 40 and life tips for women over 50: stop shrinking, start expressing yourself, and trust your own taste.

And at the top of the show, we get real about hormones, estrogen, and perimenopause, because when you’re a woman over 40 or a woman over 50, “menowashed” is a thing worth talking about.

This week’s challenge: invest in one quality piece you truly love. Tell us in the comments: what’s the biggest style rule you’ve let go of?
