Israel troops massing near Gaza in war on Hamas – BBC News
Around a million Palestinians are now believed to have fled southwards from northern Gaza – a top UN official says – ahead of what is expected to be a major ground offensive by Israel.
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas have denied reports that a truce was in place in order to allow aid to get in through the Rafah border crossing with Egypt.
The Rafah crossing remains closed despite crowds of people gathering at the gates and growing calls for food, medical supplies and fuel to be allowed into Gaza.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has arrived in Tel Aviv for meetings after several days of diplomacy, travelling between Arab nations.

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.
“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.
In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.
He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.
Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.
Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.
The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

Explosions have been heard near two Iranian port cities, Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, state media has reported.
It comes after another night of strikes between the US and Iran, with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps saying it hit two UAE tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and targeted US facilities in Jordan and Bahrain.
The UAE called the attack “brazen”, adding that an Indian crew member was killed and eight others were injured.
Meanwhile, the US military says it completed strikes on targets aimed at degrading “Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping” – Iranian state media reports three people were killed.

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.
Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.
President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.

Tens of thousands of people invaded the streets of London and Istanbul this Saturday (28) to demand a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas.
In the UK, rallies were also organized in other parts of the country, including Manchester and Glasgow. In London, protesters gathered with banners and posters and released fireworks and red and green flares.
Last weekend, around 100,000 people also took to the streets in the British capital for the same reasons. Today's demonstration (28) expects a higher number, however, it has not yet been released.

This is ridiculous, Hamas and the other terrorists in Gaza over the years have been firing missiles at Israel for over 20 years, is the reason that Israel has an iron dome that protects civilians and reduces the killing of people supposed to be passed over in silence?! After all, if Israel did not have a defense system, 1000 people would be killed every year. In these three weeks, Hamas fired over 6000 missiles, where are they aimed if not to kill civilians. It's insane that bbc news doesn't understand that this is a clear terrorist organization, they don't defend anything, they only attack to kill. Their actions 3 weeks ago caused journalists around the world to cry live, those who came to see the burned houses with the bodies and the blood. But it is a great shame that bbc news is not brave enough to tell the simple truth.

Palestine, being a land where the three religions met, was a nurturing homeland for Jews, Muslims, and Arab Christians since ages. Till the Zionism founded. Zionism decided to occupy it and chose from three candidate countries (Uganda, Palestine and Argentina) to establish an extremist Zionist homeland. After World War II, Britain supported the Zionist movement by approving the establishment of a Jewish state in historic Palestine with its native inhabitants. In 1948, the Zionists began to migrate to it, forcibly displacing its residents from their homes, killing them,demolishing them, and establishing settlements for themselves.
The situation continued in the first 50 years with the killing and displacement of the indigenous population, supported financially by the Allied countries, with the United States and Britain at the forefront. It wasn't until the signing of the Oslo Accords in 1995 that there were attempts to halt displacement operations and promote peaceful coexistence between Palestine and Israel. However, every time such agreements were signed, Israel would violate them, continuing forced displacement, violence, and the prolonged detention of Palestinians without charges for many years.
