UK nurse Lucy Letby found guilty of murdering seven babies – BBC News

Published

on

Nurse Lucy Letby has been found guilty of murdering seven babies on a neonatal unit, making her the UK’s most prolific child serial killer in modern times.

The 33-year-old has also been convicted of trying to kill six other infants at the Countess of Chester Hospital between June 2015 and June 2016.

Letby deliberately injected babies with air, force fed others milk and poisoned two of the infants with insulin.

Letby was found not guilty of two counts of attempted murder and the jury could not reach verdicts on six charges of attempted murder.

I hate to say it but Lucy isn’t the only one. I’ve seen it and many people in healthcare get into the industry with the intention of hurting as many people as possible without getting caught. And there are so many of them because the management just don’t care enough to do checks on people before they get the job or when there are allegations. The good nurses are leaving because they are treated so badly compared to the bad ones.

She is wicked beyond belief. What is more wicked is she was allowed to continue. She’s the most evil woman in Britain and will never be released. She is worse than Myra and rose west. Vile.

I really think she started off with good intentions, and I actually don't believe she is a psychopath or sociopath. Like a junkie or gambling addict, she GOT OFF on being present with an infantile death at either Liverpool but more likely Chester. It could've even been orgasmic for her like Karla Faye Tucker. I think bringing in the doctor was just a side benefit.
I really believe that in this case that there may have been a change in her biochemistry or an anatomical change (tumor or lesion).
She should do the following to make amends as much as possible: confess and tell "why"; apologize to the parents of the infants, her relatives, friends and former colleagues; be a model inmate, and tutor or help other inmates; and donate her brain to science. For her own peace of mind, she should build a personal relationship with God or find some spiritual belief. Perhaps go for another degree.

Lucy was fitted up as the scapegoat the whole case was based on circumstantial evidence…….. I mean who killed all the other babies and why no police investigation of those? Why because Lucy upset those Junior….. Yes junior doctors when they had to apologise in front of her. She was also working in a room with raw sewage coming out of the sinks. The prosecution used sympathy to sway the jury's vote. All in all a giant miscarriage of justice. Poor Lucy only 33 and will never see the light of day due to the media and public whitch hunt.

i think that the judge was amazing…a very long trial and a long, long time for mps to debate whether convicted criminals should face impact statements in court…"they should have been to made appear in court" (just like as when they were arrested, even burly killers couldn't hide from arrest)….i just don't get it…killers must face their victims, absolutely…so why (when as was indicated many years ago), keep hearing "killer sentenced but won't appear in the dock with the tragedy of olivia and the rest", had years for mps and the justice secretary to empower an "impact at hearing"…just as at not hiding when arrested…there will be another one…not if, but when

New explosions near Iranian port cities, says state media | BBC News

Published

Explosions have been heard near two Iranian port cities, Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, state media has reported.

It comes after another night of strikes between the US and Iran, with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps saying it hit two UAE tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and targeted US facilities in Jordan and Bahrain.

The UAE called the attack “brazen”, adding that an Indian crew member was killed and eight others were injured.

Meanwhile, the US military says it completed strikes on targets aimed at degrading “Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping” – Iranian state media reports three people were killed.

US launches more strikes on Iran and resumes naval blockade of ports | BBC News

Published

on

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.

Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.

President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.

Clive Myrie presents BBC News at Ten reporting by Sarah Smith in Washington.

Donald Trump scraps threat of 20% fee on Strait of Hormuz cargo | BBC News

Published

on

President Donald Trump has reversed his threat of a 20% fee on all Strait of Hormuz cargo shipping, as the US battles to break Iran’s hold on the waterway.

He said the toll would be replaced by trade and investment deals with Gulf states, just hours before the US resumes a blockade of Iranian ports.

It follows renewed strikes between the US and Iran, which triggered a sharp rise in oil prices as tanker traffic through the Strait has virtually stalled.
