WATCH: Residents of the idyllic Welsh village of Gronant say they feel “betrayed” after dozens of asylum seekers were moved into a local community hall, with locals demanding answers, transparency and a say in what happens in their community.

Residents describe the situation as a shock, saying they were not properly informed about the move and are angry that there are already limited properties available for local people. Some say they simply want to understand what is happening, who will be living in the village and why the community hall has been chosen to accommodate asylum seekers.

Prospective councillor Gray Hawley explains the impact the decision is having on the village, as residents speak emotionally about their concerns for their community. “It is a little bit of paradise,” one resident says. “All we want is transparency.”
