2:23 I want to draw attention to the fact that Belgium is 6th on the list. It's the smallest country, both by area and population (about 11 million, the same amount of people that live in Paris alone) but still has such a high deathrate. The regulations are honestly a joke.

People who were in their last year of highschool were allowed to go back to school but under strict rules (masks on at all times, 1.5 meters apart, disinfecting hands upon entering domain and every time you enter the classroom, groups couldn't be larger than 14 etc) and that's good and all but the moment we left the school domain we could take off our masks (which we all did) and stood closer to each other, and nothing is done about that.

During this time kindergardeners and primary school kids were also allowed to return with no such rules and people from retirement homes could get visitors again. Stores had opened, you could go into a clothing shop and try on anything you wanted, infect it, and wait for the next person to try it on. All of this happened at the same time as I was waiting in line, 6 feet apart from the one in front and behind me, as we were washing our hands one by one before entering the classroom.

You can't force one group to follow all of these strict rules while you let the others do what they want. I'm honestly disappointed.

    December 28, 2023 at 5:50 pm

This is a world war started by china with a virus. So – what is the reason? This is not only a virus infection. The reason is to test worldwide national systems and people. Which system and people are robust? Which system works? Which system is organized, Which system is superior? Which people are strong and which weak are weak and can not survive. Survival of the fittest! There are winners and losers. But there is no doubt that the UK and the USA have lost the war. These systems are weak and wrong. The UK and the USA always argued they have the best universities the best health care systems the best scientist and so on – only a lie – but this is not the truth. Today and the facts show us – we know it better!

Should you include this sentence in this video?
    Iran also can't be trusted
Brazil can be trusted because they failed to flatten

The numbers quoted are a little deceiving using only total numbers of cases and deaths, as you would expect a country like the USA to have more total deaths than ,say Luxembourg due to the vast difference in population sizes. You should express the deaths per million residents as a metric. Now I have a spreadsheet with cases and deaths expressed as deaths per million. Although I have not updated the data since 04/30/20 the WORST country is……..BELGIUM (655 deaths per million), followed by Spain (525), Italy (458) UK (384), France (369), Czechia (320), Netherlands (280), Sweden 256), Ireland (241), Switzerland (201), USA (186), Portugal (170), Canada (79), Denmark (78) and in 15th place Germany (77). It is strikingly noticeable that the top 10 countries are from Europe. and 13 of the top 15 countries are from Europe. I feel pretty sure that using current numbers would not change this ranking hardly at all, if any. I have used published data, but like yourselves, I question the standardization of the deaths data used across the globe. Some are questionable, whilst others are plainly misinformation/disinformation.

Canada here. We had our highest daily case increase on April 24th (13 days ago) and its been slowly declining since. An expert said if you show a decline for 10 to 14 consecutive days , it's a good sign. Fortunately we have a government who STILL wants us to wait until May 15th to decide whether to open non-crucial businesses. Plus our borders are completely (not partially) closed to non-trade travel. Canadians appear happy with strategies taking place here and are obeying rules. Meanwhile the USA appears to be a damn mess. They even have armed -with-guns Trump supporters protesting safety precautions! Pray for us…and Mexico.

Let's not forget that the very basis for all corona ststistic is testing, so as long as countries aren't testing enough, or at least under the same requirements, these Data are not really conclusive.

  36. @flashstar1234

    December 28, 2023 at 5:50 pm

I don’t get why people don’t trust China’s data. China lockdown a city of 11million when they had 800 confirmed cases. That is a bold move especially when people criticized China’s lockdown. They had super strict restrictions and leaving homes can lead to extreme fines. Of course some cases will definitely inevitably go unreported but China’s numbers seem to match with their restrictions taken,

1:05 Missing Hong Kong and Taiwan figures.
Hong Kong was world number 2 in both number of cases and deaths in early Febuary.
In Febuary 1, Philippine has only 1 cases while Hong Kong has 14 cases.
In March 1, Philippine has only 3 cases and no deaths while Hong Kong has 98 cases and 2 deaths.

  48. @wallaceanature2788

    December 28, 2023 at 5:50 pm

    Some things you missed in your attempts to explain all this;
    – there is a definitive lag between the enactment of any control measures and a response in mitigating the spread. This is partly due to delay in policy being properly practiced, but also due to the fact that the incubation period means that there is an average 2 weeks between infection and symptoms that might lead to someone getting tested. Differences in the efficiency of testing, contact tracing and isolation will lead to different outcomes, it is not just about lockdown.
    – population density. This is a huge factor in the rate of infections, and one of the reasons Brazil's curve was so sharp.
