Why I decided to save my rapist’s life – BBC News
In November, 2014, Susan Copestick, 56, was raped by her former partner. Before and after the attack, Peter Drummond, 62, had been taking pills, and eventually overdosed, but was saved after Susan called an ambulance. “I thought: ‘You will die’, then I thought: ‘No, you’ve got to pay for what you’ve done’,” Susan told the Victoria Derbyshire programme.

Have wildfires and heatwaves changed holidays in Europe for good? | BBC News
As parts of Europe continue to battle ongoing wildfires and persistent heatwaves, has the norm of a holiday in Europe changed forever?

Meanwhile, the rising temperatures are having a knock-on effect to costs of holidaying in Europe, with sunbeds in some areas sometimes costing more than a flight to reserve.

Fires rage in France and Spain as heatwave returns | BBC News
France and Spain continue to battle wildfires, as temperatures are expected to soar past 40C in some regions in the coming days.
Spain’s national weather service says the severe weather is forecast to last until “at least” Sunday, and warns of “extreme” fire risks as firefighters continue to battle the some of the worst blazes in the country’s history.
France’s south-west regions Gironde and Landes are under “yellow alert” for a heatwave expected to peak on Wednesday, further hampering efforts to contain “very unpredictable” blazes in Gironde.
The mayor of Bordeaux has said he is preparing for “all eventualities”, as one of the wildfires burning in France is 15km (nine miles) from the south-western city.
