MARRIAGE & DIVORCE TRENDS IN SOUTH AFRICA!
Today I want us to unpack the data and numbers behind umjolo in South Africa, no seriously we’re going through the Marriages and Divorces Trends Report for 2022, this was collated by Stats SA.
First thing that comes out from the report is that, the number of civil marriages in South Africa has been dropping. There’s been a significant decline of almost 30% since 2013! Even considering COVID restrictions putting a damper on gatherings in 2020 and 2021, the overall trend is clear. Interestingly, the report also shows a seasonal trend, with December being the most popular month to get married, followed by a significant dip in January.
What are some of the things that you think weren’t mentioned in the Stats SA report around marriage & divorce in South Africa?
