Apple are sitting on a huge pile of cash having extracted it from loyal but gormless devotees.

I think the remarks from the sociologist were absurd. The remarks from Dominique were very pertinent to the current times and future times of near extinction of cash.

What is interesting is that Apple have quite rightly entered into a space that will diversify their revenue streams and frankly that company relies on such diversity as far as I am concerned.

I think people forget just how dominant Nokia once was and if you stop innovating and being relevant the market is quite brutal and unforgiving.

If I were an investor in Apple (many are across the country through their pensions whether they know it or not) I would be excited at such a move.

From the moral and social perspective it is another ball game – in fact if you analyse Apple as an entity you will discover they (Apple) are a ruthless and quite nasty company who simply rely on the sweat factories of China to sustain their margins of circa 30% I think – in fairness Apple are not alone in that but it true nevertheless.

A move into SAAS and the App Store and BNPL and so on is where the future growth will pay dividends and of course the stable hardware products that must continue to be desired by their core fan base across the globe – I have severe reservations about an Apple car with view to the cost involved and risk – if they partner up then it may work but I think they are pushing their luck on that front.
