Russia to free Evan Gershkovich in major prisoner swap | BBC News
Three US citizens imprisoned in Russia, including Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, are expected to be released on Thursday under a prisoner exchange deal.
Gershkovich, US Marine veteran Paul Whelan, and Russian-American radio journalist Alsu Kurmasheva will be released under the deal agreed by the Biden administration, a senior US official confirmed.
In total, the exchange will involve 24 prisoners held in Russia, the US, Germany and three other Western countries. The swap has not occurred yet but is expected later today.

The number of people missing in Nepal after the massive flash flood on Wednesday has risen to 4,247- with at least 903 people known to have died.
The number of missing is a sharp rise from 2,502, which was announced on Sunday. Of those missing, 3,655 are Nepali citizens, with 592 foreigners unaccounted for.
In Tibet, the official death toll is 16, with 546 reported missing, according to Chinese state media.
