Inside a prisoner of war camp for Russians in Ukraine – BBC News

Published

on

Ukraine and Russia have been cooperating with prisoner of war exchanges despite the continuing war.

Kyiv said this month it had secured the release of 1,762 men and women so far in prisoner swaps.

These are highly sensitive operations, often taking months to arrange. Under the Geneva Conventions, prisoners of war must not be paraded or exposed to the public.

The BBC has been given rare access to one facility where captured Russian soldiers are held in the west of Ukraine.

You soldiers are a disgrace why do you allow yourself to be a POW?
You live as a soldier you die as a soldier
If you’re about to die you take any enemy along with you, you don’t allow whatever enemy to fight another day

I truely hope ukraines allies lease Ukraine the same kind and same amount of weapons and equipment russia used in the 2022 full scale blitzkrieg invasion with massive amounts of armored vechicles, tanks, attack helicopters, fighter jets, reconnaissance aircraft, missile and artillery systems, lots of soldiers and minefields, small coastal ships not even warships just coastal ships with shoulder missiles and machine gun boats, that plus a base level Russian invasion force excluded modern fighters and hypersonic and new supersonic missiles and no war crimes. Ukraine will drive out russia out of all of Ukraine including donbas and crimea without a navy, modern jets and reconnaissance aircraft etc. Because of how well our nato and eu allied nations trained the Ukrainians plus there battlefield expierence and there will to fight to the last stand because its there home. Where Russia is an invader with volunteers and modern weapons and equipment and they still could not reach Kiev so russia had to start a draft and use mostly ita cold war era weapons and some even ww2. All this to invade a foriegn nation for its land. So morale is way way off or doesnt exist. But in Ukraine they got better weapons than before the war they just need larger amounts and then at least half the nations will volunteer to push Russia back all the way back to Moscow

Definitely ukraines pow camps are way way rougher. Mine would be and my nation is only a non combatant Ukrainian allie/weapons provided/trainer/intelligence officers. But ukraine arresting russians who first did low level small invasions in the donbas region early 2010s then actually russian special forces annexed crimea in 2014 and was too scared to admit it. Then they spent 8 years after crimea and 10 years or more since donbas small battles before there full invasion and still russia couldn't reach kiev so they resulting in commiting multiple war crimes. So definitely Ukrainians will punish them out of spite which almost anyone would, 2 gather intelligence on past current and future operations by torture if nessary, 3 use the pows are trading chips for other prisoners and as leverage for possible peace talks and land trades.

I predict that both sides, Ukraine (western allies) vs Russia (very few allies) will both be using the new advancement of Ai. Ai will find peace, or rather the West with the help of Ai will find peaceful agreements. Why i say Ai? Well, we're not smart enough to understand peaceful resolutions, we're still stuck in our jungle hate duality mentality.

    OPERATION HAIRBALL NO HOOK !
10 years after the Viet war I found by trailing airliners from Zoowaii to Saigon airport thousands of US POWS sorting out Zoowaiian tourist amputated limbs and devastated head who had been injected or consumed Xolyenne a chemical that turns their skin any brilliant color of the Zoowaiian rainbow.
I made a plan that night I would get out on an airliner flying them back to US homeland. Very few wanted to go! I manage to fill the seats flew them to the East coast and south coast return with a sealed envelope handed it to the commander read HAIRBALL NO HOOK he read to his men they all cheered and screamed they all wanted to go. Now the seats were filled with 3 to 4 man a seat!

I work around the clock flying them to US a lot of them still did not want to go after packing those dead tourist corps did not trust our beloved government.

I made a deal with the KGB they could under a diplomatic agreement with Vietnam take them as a work force in a war zone Afghanistan, 80,000 POWs they paid them for labor and feed them good and after length of time gave them passports to any country a lot based on ancestry if you were French decent you go there.

This government after being exposed by the so-called enemy will kill any POW escapee instead of giving a medal!

BBC, CNN/FNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, PBS, NYTimes, WSJ, Washington Post are all colluding to push the false construct/fake news about this war in Ukraine.
They all jumped on Zelenskyy's Media Band Wagon, Western Corporations also hitched their wagons to a unified coordinated orchestrated well planned response to what they knew was coming! Russia's invasion to put a stop the the Bull Shit Zelenskyy, The US & British & Europeans to a lesser extent were up to in Ukraine. Europeans are slowing finding out the truth, Even Americans who are the stupidest sheep on the planet are starting to catch on to why, when & who started this war in Europe. The truth is slowing emerging & as Western's find out more their gonna be really pissed! When their really pissed there going to vote and then the shit will hit the fan!

Who is winning the US-Canada trade war? | BBC Americast

Published

on

The trade war between the US and Canada has escalated after Canadian prime minister Mark Carney walked away from negotiations to cut a new trade deal with the US and declared up to 50% retaliatory tariffs on hundreds of American goods. Sumi and Anthony discuss how America’s once closest ally is fighting back, and if it could become a political problem for Trump as the midterms approach.

And we mark the passing of musical legend Dolly Parton who has died at the age of 80. With a reputation defined by her quick quips and deep kindness, she had fans from across the political divide, leading an Americaster to ask what would have happened if she’d ever run for president?

Meta to pay up to $18bn to settle claims its platforms harm children | BBC News

Published

on

Social media giant Meta has agreed to a $18bn (£13.3bn) settlement with US states and territories to resolve claims that Facebook and Instagram harmed children.

A California judge approved the settlement, which Meta must pay to 48 states, plus the District of Columbia and three US territories, marking the company’s largest payment over child safety litigation to date.

Meta will also implement a host of changes aimed at better protecting kids online, which the states had demanded, including default daily time limits and night-time blocks.

Meta has denied any wrongdoing as part of the settlement and said on Wednesday that the payment it agreed to “will be distributed in annual instalments over a 10-year period”.
