With just days to go until the midterm elections, the Democrats believe they could flip as many as six seats in the Senate. What are the polls telling us with just days to go until the midterm elections, and could results still go in Donald Trump’s favour?

The Democrats have been trying to oust Maine Republican Senator Susan Collins for almost three decades. With the midterms days away, President Donald Trump’s unpopularity could see her finally removed. The Maine election has become a referendum on how voters view Senator Collins. Mainers are deciding if they continue to trust the woman who has climbed the ranks of the Republican party and brought millions of dollars of federal money to their state, or if they find her affiliation with Trump too much. Her contender, progressive Democrat Troy Jackson is a late entrant to the race, after his predecessor Graham Platner suspended his campaign following a series of scandals that included a woman accusing him of sexual assault. A former logger, his campaign has been marred after telling Collins to “shut up” during a debate. Meanwhile, Anthony’s spoken to veteran election analyst Carrie Dann, the Managing Editor of The Cook Political Report. She explains to us where she sees the tightest races, what is mattering most to voters, and who she thinks will win.

Valeriya vs Andrei Makarevich: Two rock and pop stars weigh in on the debate. Russian singers and other celebrities are increasingly being banned from the big stage for disagreeing with the Kremlin’s policy in Ukraine. Artists who support Moscow’s position have been using the stage – and their status – to help pump patriotic feeling. But critics complain that concert halls are being closed to those with opposing views – and some have openly been labelled as traitors. Sarah Rainsford heard from two Russian music stars now thrust onto opposing sides in what is becoming a new, “cultural war”.

Philippine police have obtained a warrant to examine devices seized from the former home of Thomas Markle, father of the Duchess of Sussex.

Earlier this month, it was reported that hundreds of images of child sexual abuse allegedly belonging to Thomas Markle Sr, 82, had been found at the property in the Philippines.

Four boxes of material, including computers, phones, hard drives and old videotapes, were handed to police by Meghan’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr, last week. However, officers in Cebu needed a court warrant before they could examine the items.

Thomas Markle Sr, who is now in the US, has strongly denied the allegations made by his son, describing them as “sick lies”.

Nine women have been paid compensation following claims a police force failed to investigate serving and former officers for domestic abuse and sexual violence.

The women say they were not taken seriously when they reported alleged cases of rape, assault and coercive control by male officers employed by Devon and Cornwall Police.

One woman described the force as a “big boys’ club” which had “protected” the man who she claims assaulted her.

The force has apologised to the women and agreed an out-of-court settlement to pay compensation without admitting legal liability.
