American game designer, Tim Schafer, has told the BBC he doesn’t understand the job losses plaguing the video games industry at a time when video games are played more than ever.

In a chat with the BBC’s Laura Cress, he said he believes “someone is being greedy somewhere” as he looks at life for his own studio, Double Fine, after it was axed by Xbox.

He also discusses his love for horror games and his plans to create his “dream games” – and not saying no to a possible Brutal Legend sequel.

Russia is voting in its first parliamentary election this weekend since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The system of power in Russia is often referred to as “managed democracy” – where the Kremlin does the managing – which means huge powers for the president and few political surprises.

The election is set to deliver another parliament dominated by the party of power, United Russia, and a house of MPs fiercely loyal to Vladimir Putin.

For the Kremlin, the election of 450 deputies to the lower house of parliament, the Duma, is important.

Critics dismiss the vote as neither free nor fair.

Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has disclosed that an artificial intelligence agent developed by US firm OpenAI “infiltrated” a statistics portal on an Australian government website.

The agent hacked a statistics portal containing private data from Australia’s universal healthcare scheme, Medicare. Experts believe it is the world’s first known AI breach of a government system.

OpenAI says it is not believed any patient records were accessed.
