President Trump made more than $1bn from crypto in first year back in office | BBC News

Published

on

US President Donald Trump made more than $1bn (£750m) last year from business dealings in cryptocurrency, according to his mandatory financial report for 2025.

In a 927-page disclosure, he reported $635m in royalties from a Trump meme coin that has plunged in value since he launched it days before taking office.

He also reported over $500m in income from World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency firm founded by his own sons and the children of his special envoy, Steve Witkoff.

Trump also earned millions more from real estate and Trump-themed items. But the White House denied he was profiting from the presidency.

White House deputy press secretary Anna Kelly said the president had proudly made the US “the crypto capital of the world”.

“Neither the President nor his family has ever engaged – or will ever engage – in conflicts of interest,” she said in a statement.

Iran says ‘no new commitments’ on nuclear sites after Vance says inspectors can return | BBC News

Published

on

Iran has denied a claim by US Vice-President JD Vance that it will allow nuclear inspectors back into the country, after the first round of talks between Washington and Tehran to reach a final deal to end the war.

US President Donald Trump also said that despite Iran’s “protestations and false statements to the contrary”, it had “fully and completely agreed” to inspections.

However, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said it had no plans to allow inspectors to access nuclear sites bombed by the US and Israel last year.

Meanwhile, Israeli soldiers have shot dead two people in southern Lebanon, the Lebanese health ministry says, in the first fatal incident reported since the latest ceasefire between Israel and the Iran-backed armed group Hezbollah appeared to take hold at the weekend.

A woman who was raped by Superdry co-founder James Holder has told the BBC she had been working for him at the time of the attack.

Gemma, not her real name, was attacked by the disgraced fashion boss in her own home after Holder got into her taxi following work drinks in 2022.

In an exclusive interview, she described feeling fear and dread on the following Monday morning as she walked into work at a new business Holder had launched after leaving Superdry in 2016.

Holder, 54, was jailed in May for eight years for raping Gemma.
