Well considering I keep hearing a West Yorkshire police advert saying they are specifically hiring women & non-white people because apparently they don’t have the desired number on the force, I can’t say I’m surprised. Being told you’re not welcome to apply wouldn’t be accepted in any other scenario. Looking for competent officers clearly isn’t a priority.

'Policing by consent' is a load a BS. Linguistic meaninglessness. Stop pretending it is literally policing by consent when it isn't. It just means you can't be forced to provide proof of ID when under suspicion without any evidence. Is that correct? Or have I got it wrong? It's like an 'unwritten' constitition. Yeah right. That's about as effective as a chocolate fireguard.

We don't need another report on police failings, we already know what they are. From the oath taken, right through to Chief Constables and Commissioner, needs to be torn apart and reassembled. As it stands, they are in disarray, leaderless, and see themselves above the Law.

As a retired senior police offer stated in Daily Mail, top brass need to speak one-to-one to those concerned to nip things in the bud, while retaining strong individuals. You need men who can stare down Travellers and other organised criminals. Only a very limited pool of talent available. Look at X Factor – after a few years they ran out of talent and brought back past failures. Tony Blair wanted to draft in ex-US high ranking officers to shake things up. Not a bad idea.

Yes, They seem to be scrapping the barrel now, About a year ago I was stopped by the police for not wearing a seat belt. — in the old days they would simply tell you to “put the belt on”
