Ukraine’s President Zelensky heads to US for first trip since war began – BBC News
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky is heading to the United States on his first foreign trip since Russia’s invasion.
Mr Zelenksy will meet with US President Joe Biden in Washington on Wednesday, and give a speech at Congress.
The White House confirmed a new package of nearly $2bn (£1.6bn) of security assistance for Ukraine, ahead of Mr Zelensky’s visit.

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.
“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.
In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.
He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.
Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.
Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.
The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

Explosions have been heard near two Iranian port cities, Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, state media has reported.
It comes after another night of strikes between the US and Iran, with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps saying it hit two UAE tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and targeted US facilities in Jordan and Bahrain.
The UAE called the attack “brazen”, adding that an Indian crew member was killed and eight others were injured.
Meanwhile, the US military says it completed strikes on targets aimed at degrading “Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping” – Iranian state media reports three people were killed.

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.
Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.
President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.

Russian forces eliminate Ukrainian mechanized brigade positions, foreign mercenaries disappear in sinkhole
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russian forces eliminated temporary positions of the Ukrainian 72nd Mechanized Brigade, as well as foreign mercenaries.
Towards the south of Donetsk, Russian forces repelled Ukrainian actions, occupying lines and positions.
Still in the south of Donetsk, in 24 hours more than 40 Ukrainian soldiers were eliminated.

Among your veracity, there is a very real pain, the suffering you have had to deal with, the unrelenting aggression from a war that should never have happened. We love you and a lot of Americans think about you daily, we hope the Patriot missiles will be enough to expel the aggressors from your lands. The cliche of the Russians being a tough group, well, we have learned who the real tough guys (and women) are, it's the Ukrainians, the Russians are an embarrassment to humanity and their people remain extremely complacent and cowardly in comparison. With or without our weapons, the best of experts said you would be over-run quickly, you proved every one of them wrong. And just like when we invaded foreign lands, whether the US was right or wrong, history has continued to give us the same universal message; you can NOT defeat somebody who is fighting for their very existence, their very survival, we MUST respect sovereign nations and end this madness. Shame on Russia, stop this madness, no one truly is winning, it is terrible what you are even doing to your own people. They will never fall for your lies in the end.

Zelensky is a tinpot authoritarian dictator who has banned all news outlets that were critical of him, banned all opposition political parties, imprisoned without trial all opposition politicians and outlawed Orthodox Christianity (whose leaders immediately condemned Russia after the war started and a religion that has been present in Ukraine for over 1000 years). So Zelensky is as much of a dictator as Putin is, and as such I don't know why it's ok to support Ukraine and hate Russia but it's wrong the other way around; furthermore, Zelensky is a Soros-funded Leftie Liberal and a low-grade 'comedian' a shitty one at that). And BTW, how come Democrats are spending billions of dollars to protect Ukraine's borders while their country undergoes rampant inflation while at the same time declaring that American borders are 'racist'?
