Sri Lanka fuel crisis: ‘Only God can help us now’ – BBC News
Sri Lankans are facing fuel and food shortages, combined with steep price rises, with the country in the midst of its worst economic crisis in living memory.
Millions are having to endure daily power cuts and queue for hours to get basics like cooking gas and diesel.

Tens of thousands of organisations have been caught out by a computer virus called WannaCry. The malicious software locks data away and demands a payment of up to $300 (£230) a time before it will restore scrambled files. In the UK, many hospitals fell victim and some health organisations diverted ambulances and cancelled non-essential services as they sought to contain and clean up the infection. Infections in more than 99 nations are being reported by security firms. It appears that the hardest hit are Russia and Spain.

My country is now in a very difficult situation. People have no petrol or gas. Some people don't have food. This is a time when people are under a lot of pressure. The reason for this is the corrupt political power of the rulers and the theft of the rulers. People living in our country know that better than you who look at it from the outside. We feel this very much. If there were competent and disciplined rulers in our country, such calamities would not have happened to our country.

Seen the latest news on BBC saying that there will be no sales of fuel for two weeks and only medical, food transport and busses can access it. I had vaguely hoped by now we would see fuel issues start to settle so the Sri Lankan people would be able to start to recover. It's heart breaking to see locals suffering.
