North Korea is all bark and no bite. Even if their nuclear bomb could fit on the missile, which I question, the odds of it actually surviving atmospheric reentry are astronomically low. Then add to that the fact that they don't have any positioning satellites, the odds of it getting anywhere near the target are pathetic, much like Kim Jong Un himself. He is simply grandstanding and wasting a ton of money doing it. He could probably hit South Korea with a fair amount of accuracy, but anywhere else, especially the US mainland, is out of the question. He'll try, he'll fail, and he will get nuked with missiles that actually work.

It may not be the best plan to launch more missiles in response. It's like pouring gasoline on a fire. The USA is showing its right face now – they see Japan, S. Korea as their vassals. And that it is the United States and not the countries that will suffer most, who decide if to attack N. Korea. The US government is crazy and wants another war to disturb the peace of the world so the United States can earn more money on arms exports.

Why doesn't Russia ever give solutions to problems? They only criticize without giving a solution. They don't want the USA to go to war, but they also don't support sanctions. Dialogue doesn't work with North Korea, it never has. It is time for Putin to "put up or shut up" as we say in America.

North Korea cannot do anything until China gives them nukes and they won't because the first thing they would do is bomb China, the US, Tokyo and Seoul. North Korea has not the nuclear power to attack those nations and China and USA have the power to destroy North Korea in 54 minutes. But they don't because with North Korea, China wants to take the place occupied by the US, the one of the "savior", in fact the Us is always viewed as the one who saves everyone (WW1, WW2, the Korean War…), and China wants to take their place to increment commerce with other countries and so, neither China nor USA attack… so North Korea isn't a threat to anyone really, as long as China, US or Russia want to live, and if they want so, they won't allow North Korea to launch nukes to other places, because after the TV interviews, Xi Jin Ping goes to the market with the DPRK… this is another situation where the word powers don't want to do anything to stop their own creation born only to maintain their image (and their commerce and trusting) strong…

Jailed HK activist Joshua Wong pleads guilty to foreign collusion | BBC News

Published

on

Prominent Hong Kong pro-democracy campaigner Joshua Wong has pleaded guilty to collusion with foreign entities, a charge that carries a maximum sentence of life in prison under Beijing’s sweeping National Security Law (NSL).

The 29-year-old, who has become the poster child for political activism in Hong Kong, is already serving a sentence of four years and eight months after being convicted of subversion – another NSL violation – in late 2024.

The court said Wong would be sentenced at a later date. His earlier jail term is due to end early next year.

Wong was at the forefront of the Umbrella Movement in 2014 and massive pro-democracy protests in 2019.

The latest charge accuses Wong of conspiring with other campaigners, including exiled activist Nathan Law, to ask foreign countries and entities outside China to impose sanctions or blockades against Beijing.

US targets Larak Island while Iran strikes air bases in Jordan | BBC News

Published

on

Iran and the US have traded strikes after American forces attacked two rocket launchers on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz.

The US strike is the first known attack on Iran since President Donald Trump paused a renewed military campaign in late July.

Iran said it had struck US military bases in Jordan in response, with Jordan’s army saying it had intercepted eight missiles early on Monday morning.

Iran’s state TV also said the Iranian army had targeted an air base in the UAE with drones, however, the UAE’s Ministry of Defence denied the reports that Al-Minhad Air Base had been targeted as “unfounded”. The UAE did confirm it shot down a drone.
