Is Pakistan ‘obsessed’ with fair skin? BBC News
Subscribe to BBC News www.youtube.com/bbcnews
Campaigners say that the idea of having fair skin is unfairly linked to personal and professional success in Pakistan. An advert for skin-whitening soap has sparked a debate in Pakistani society about what many are calling the country’s ‘obsession’ with attaining fairer skin. Even though such adverts do come in for criticism, cosmetic retailers and salon owners say they have seen an increase in demand for skin-lightening products and treatments in recent years. BBC Urdu’s Nosheen Abbas reports.

Ukrainians in Russian-occupied areas told to be ready to fight for Russia – BBC News
Ukraine’s progress against Russian forces in its southern regions of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia has been far more limited than its successes in the north-east.
Both sides come under regular fire as they rely heavily on artillery to push forward.
The crackdown on people who do not support Russian rule in occupied areas is rising, with soldiers going door-to-door to check on who lives in each house and whether they could be drafted into fighting for Russia.

Govt will apply “extreme caution” to easing lockdown – BBC News
The government has said it will exercise “extreme caution” over lifting the lockdown. Ministers stress it will be a gradual process, not a single leap to freedom. It comes as the Prime Minister prepares to address the nation, to set out the next phase in tackling the coronavirus pandemic.
Meanwhile major airlines have called for clarity after being told that the government will bring in a 14-day quarantine for anyone arriving in the UK, from any country apart from the Republic of Ireland.
The transport secretary Grant Shapps has called on people to walk and cycle to work, once the lockdown restrictions are eased in England. He said it was a “once-in-a-generation opportunity” to transform the way people get around.
Senior clerics are urging the government to act cautiously before allowing places of worship to reopen. All churches, mosques, synagogues and temples closed their doors almost two months ago.
Reeta Chakrabarti presents BBC News reports from Political Correspondent Ben Wright, Environment Correspondent Justin Rowlatt and Religion Editor Martin Bashir.

I think most Pakistanis are already white compared to us Indians . Yes, they are really fair like that girl who took part in Indian film . Shes portrayed as a Brahmin daughter and a strick father . But then she fall in love with this guy and the whole neighbours tell the father about the girl behavour and then the dad abandoned her . At the end she died but the broken hearted father apologize but its too late . She wears spectacle in the movie with long hair. That girl
