I'm not an economist but for twenty months I've been saying this would happen! They are lying about inflation and everything is going to get ten times worse!
Just remember, it's not covid that's done this, it's Doris and his merry band of cretins who chose this path! Look at Florida, Texas, and Sweden, All better outcomes without the damage!
Also, this has all been the intention from the start!

Why do analyst's always dismiss the falling value of money in relation to the cost of living. Interest rates are at a record low, if you have savings, whilst the banks fleese you for credit. It is an absolute disgrace. This is how the public have been treated by the Government and the banks for bailing the financial system out.

Well what do politicians expect? People have been scared stiff so they aren’t shopping, socialising etc. The only economic growth is going to China re masks, etc etc.

Dont close the economy, problem solved. This is a purely government created problem. It can be resolved by the government getting out of the way

: Reuters November 11, 2021 "Sluggish UK economy falls behind the G7 pack again" The Office for National Statistics said Britain's economy remained 2.1% smaller than it was at the end of 2019, a bigger shortfall than in fellow G7 countries Germany, Italy and France."
CNN Business November 12, 2021 "UK recovery still lagging other G7 economies as growth slows" .. Germany, France and Italy all reported stronger growth for the third quarter, and are much closer to completing their recoveries from the pandemic recession than the United Kingdom.."

Things will only improve when Boris and his perma-lockdown is gone.

What the analyst fails to focus on is that meanwhile inflation goes through the roof. Stagflation is here. So even if interest rates don't go up, people quietly get poorer and poorer
